We Were Here Tomorrow Friend Pass: Launch Access FAQ

We Were Here Tomorrow Friend Pass was not included at launch. Read the producer statement, ownership implications and how this differs from crossplay.

We Were Here Tomorrow did not include a Friend Pass at launch. In the producer interview included in the research, executive producer Luite Douma says the feature would not be included in this title for now. Each player should plan to have access to their own copy instead of expecting an owner's free guest invitation.

What the producer actually said

The relevant evidence is the September 23 producer interview, rather than an assumption based on another co-op game. Douma explains that the team considered the idea but that it would require additional backend infrastructure and implementation work. The answer identifies a feature the team had evaluated, not a hidden launch entitlement that players merely need to activate.

The interview leaves open the possibility of reconsidering such a feature for future entries. That possibility is not an announcement for Tomorrow and should not be rewritten as a promised update. No future Friend Pass date or eligibility policy is announced in these sources.

What should two players buy or access?

Plan the session around both people having access to We Were Here Tomorrow. The research does not establish that one standard purchase grants a second player free access through a dedicated Friend Pass. It also does not document a special guest client or an activation code that bypasses normal ownership.

That advice concerns access to the game itself. Platform sharing policies are separate from a developer-provided Friend Pass, and can depend on accounts and simultaneous play. Check the applicable storefront’s policy before relying on a sharing arrangement for your two-player session.

Friend Pass is different from crossplay

The game does support crossplay across Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That allows a pair to use different confirmed platforms, but does not settle how each person obtains the game. Multiplayer compatibility and free guest access are separate features with separate evidence.

For example, an Xbox player and a PS5 player fall within the announced crossplay group. That fact does not mean either player can send the other a free copy. The crossplay page explains the supported platform group without inventing ownership entitlements.

Console subscriptions are also separate

The PlayStation listing requires PS Plus for online play, and the Xbox listing identifies an eligible console online multiplayer subscription requirement. Those conditions concern multiplayer access on the respective consoles. Neither should be treated as proof that the game itself is included or that a Friend Pass exists.

Before arranging a session, separate the hardware, game-access and online-access questions. The report establishes a two-player online adventure and the announced platforms, but not an all-in-one subscription purchase that necessarily covers everything. Current local offers should be checked against the relevant product listing.

How much does the absence of a pass matter?

For a pair planning to buy, it means the dated launch price should be considered for each person's access rather than assumed to cover both. The research lists a standard U.S. launch price and an introductory discount, but those are not permanent regional prices. No combined duo price or second-copy discount is invented here.

For a pair already able to access the game, the missing pass does not remove the announced cooperative or crossplay features. It simply changes the expectation that an owner can automatically bring in a non-owner for free. Only a new official statement could establish a later change to that arrangement.
