We Were Here Tomorrow Crossplay: Supported Platforms

We Were Here Tomorrow crossplay connects Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Check supported pairings, online requirements, public lobbies and official help.

Yes, We Were Here Tomorrow supports crossplay between Steam on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S from launch. The developer’s October 20, 2026 release announcement confirms that those versions can play together. This page explains the supported combinations, online access requirements and official lobby and communication advice.

Which platform combinations are included?

The announced crossplay group contains Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This covers a pair choosing different platforms from that confirmed group, rather than requiring both players to buy the same console edition. The game is designed around two-player online cooperation, so the supported arrangement is a cooperative pair.

PS4 and Xbox One are not added to that group by implication. The individual console product listings and launch announcement do not establish native versions on those older systems. Read the PS4 answer if an older PlayStation console is part of your plan.

What remains separate from crossplay?

Crossplay lets supported platform versions participate in the same session. It is separate from purchasing a licence or transferring progress between storefronts. Keep the two players on their chosen platform accounts and check the applicable store policy before relying on shared ownership or save transfer.

The Friend Pass question has its own evidence: the producer interview says the feature was not included for this title at launch. Plan for both people to have access to their own copy. See the Friend Pass explanation before interpreting multiplayer compatibility as free guest access.

Console online requirements still apply

The PlayStation product page lists online play as required and PS Plus as required for online multiplayer. The Xbox product page also lists a separate eligible console online multiplayer subscription requirement. Crossplay support does not erase either platform's stated access conditions.

The Steam, PS5 and Xbox editions still depend on an online connection and communication between the two Explorers. The research describes walkie-talkies and different perspectives as core parts of the experience. It does not verify an offline alternative that replaces those requirements.

Finding a partner and inviting a friend

The developer FAQ says you can open a public in-game lobby and wait for a partner. The microphone support article also suggests inviting from the friend list when troubleshooting a session. These are official starting points, but do not document the full cross-platform account or room-code flow.

The developer’s public-lobby option provides a documented way to find a partner. Its friend-list invitation advice is a troubleshooting suggestion for supported sessions. Follow the prompts shown in your own game; this article does not prescribe a universal room code or an extra account-linking service.

Official communication and connection checks

For a silent walkie-talkie, select the intended microphone in Windows and in the game's audio settings. Check input levels and take turns pressing the radio button. These are developer recommendations, rather than a claim that we reproduced and fixed every launch issue.

For connection failures, the PC support article recommends comparing the in-game region with your partner, checking system time and checking the game files. Start with the current Steam hardware requirements when assessing your PC. The older article also mentions Windows 10 and Epic, which does not establish release support for either in the current Steam listing.

The developer now maintains an official known-issues list dated October 21, 2026. It reports a resolved voice-service maintenance incident while continuing to track other audio and gameplay issues. Use that dated status alongside the review roundup; a temporary workaround is different from a permanent patch fix.
